Hi! I’m Rolynda Simpson and I believe that everyone has a desire to live their best life, yet sometimes life challenges arise and leave us feeling uncertain how to move forward to help ourselves or our family. It could be a difficult event, a painful relationship or a past experience; sometimes we feel stuck in our feelings which prevents us from processing, integrating, and moving forward. It is my job to guide you toward healing, support you to incorporate strategies and develop skills that move you toward your goals. In my experience, people change when they connect to the right resources, engage in a safe, supportive, therapeutic relationship and can reconnect to their inner guidance and knowing. Together we will explore what may be holding you back and identify steps to support your health and wellness.
Taking the first step towards getting some help can often feel overwhelming and complicated. I work with adults and teens to create a safe space for us emotionally, physically, and therapeutically. I specialize in Anxiety, Depression, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), trauma, self care, and relationships. Every approach is client-centered, which means we work together using strategies that are best suited to you and your goals. You can expect me to be warm, and compassionate, listen without judgement and provide clear, concrete tools and plans. Your overall health and wellness are important to me. I work with a variety of therapies that align all parts of the person – body, mind, and spirit – by working with the brain and body connection. I practice a holistic approach to therapies that may include; Mindfulness (MBCT and MBSR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Professional development is a high priority for me and I am currently learning more about attachment, Poly Vagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems.
I am a certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Psychotherapy and Counselling Association. I have a Master of Education in Counselling and I am a registered service provider for The First Nation Health Authority and Crime Victim Assistance Program. I have extensive experience working with teens and families in the public school system and supporting teens with difficulties that get in the way of their learning, including: Anxiety, Depression, Autism, ADD/ADHD, relationship conflict, divorce, death, and adolescent struggles. My experience also extends to working with parents in the areas of: navigating special needs designations, fostering academic success, understanding parent-child relationships, and co-parenting amidst divorce.
I am here for you. Together we will build strategies and skills into your life that will affect the way you think, feel, and act. These skills will foster adaptive thinking, boost your confidence, and affect change in your life! Success in therapy is based on taking action, expecting positive results, and using the tools you have acquired to support your goals. Together we will move you forward so you can live your best life.
I look forward to meeting you.
