It's time for you to get unstuck and feel better.

Anxiety.

Everyone worries at times in their lives. It's a normal part of growing, changing, and learning. But worry and anxiety can also become powerful and restrictive, disrupting relationships, and taking away the parts of life that used to seem normal or enjoyable. If left unaddressed, anxiety takes control and leaves you breathless, avoiding things or people, feeling panicked and alone.

The information and skills I teach go after patterns that keep anxiety in charge of adults, teens, families, and children, sometimes for many generations. Our work together will help you understand anxiety and the cognitive and physical patterns keeping you stuck. You will make sense to yourself! And when that happens, you’ll begin to thrive. You’ll get unstuck and step into the life you’re meant to be living, with peace of mind.

You are not alone, and I am here to help.

ADHD.

Neuroscience, brain imaging, and clinical research are telling us more an more about ADHD. Here are a few important things: ADHD is not a behavior disorder. ADHD is not a specific learning disability. ADHD is an impairment of the brain’s self-management system. Both adults and children can be diagnosed with ADHD. It is not caused by bad parenting, too much sugar, or
too many video games.

Despite its name, ADHD doesn't actually cause a deficit of attention - it actually causes inconsistent attention that is activated under certain circumstances. People with ADHD often say they “get in the zone” or “hit a groove” and describe a state of hyperfocus. This state is not activated by a teacher’s assignment or boss’s request. It's created by a momentary sense of interest, competition, or deadline.

You are not alone. ADHD impacts approximately 10% of children and almost 5% of adults in Canada.

Take the steps to reach self-acceptance, embrace your diagnosis, and understand ADHD, so you can make it work for you. You are worth it.

Trauma.

Trauma is a long journey, isn’t it? The research shows unhealed trauma is stored and relived in your body. You experience this through reactions, sensations, behaviors, feelings, and thoughts. When you are activated, there are parts of your brain that go offline, so you can't talk yourself out of these experiences, and this may
cause you to feel so… out of control. When you know how, you can access your body to show your systems that you are safe and out of danger. This will allow you to regulate your nervous system, use your voice to set boundaries, communicate assertively, feel safe in the world, and live your purpose, with pride.

How you think, feel, and act is definitely part of what we talk about in counselling. However, it isn’t always enough. When addressing trauma, another question to ask is, “Notice…” and “What happens next?”

My approach involves Somatic Attachment Therapy and Polyvagal Theory, working with the body and moving back up to the brain, with nonjudgment and compassion, so you can forge a new relationship to your Self. You will be able
to create a deeper understanding of patterns that keep you stuck, build a relationship between the mind and the body to heal wounds, learn how to relate to yourself with kindness and compassion, and then delight in the ripple effects in other areas of your life.

Relationships.

While the need for human connection is neurologically wired in our brain, the ability to form healthy, loving, loving relationships is learned through life experiences, beginning in childhood. These early years can directly affect how you show up in your adult relationships with your Self and others.

Healthy, loving relationships are the foundation for connection and meaning in our lives – we need them! Yet, Self-love and loving relationships are rarely as perfect or problem-free as we would like them to be. The ability to have thriving, respectful relationships, amidst difficult times or challenges, is possible! You do not have to be stuck in the chaos of hurt feelings, misunderstandings, and communication breakdowns.

Through groups, individual therapy, and courses, I help individuals, parents, teens, and families rebuild relationships with powerful tools and research-based information.

One-to-One Counselling & Group Therapy.

1 TO 1 COUNSELLING
The setting in 1-1 counselling sessions allows a special relationship to develop between us and I can be very thorough in understanding the specific problems you are facing. I can develop an individualized approach to support you and your specific circumstances, so the level of analysis and treatment can be much more intense and comprehensive. 1-1 counselling allows the pace of the therapy to be tailored; It can be sped up in
cases where clients can handle more focused and intense interventions, or it can be slowed down when clients need time to adjust and move slowly. 1-1 counselling is the most expensive form of treatment.

GROUP THERAPY
Group therapy is not only cost effective, it offers the opportunity to connect with others who are facing the same obstacles. Group therapy allows you to receive support from others, and give support to others through your experiences, while feeling connected, seen, and heard. Groups can be more accommodating for busy schedules than 1-1 sessions, for example: two sessions per month for 2 hours, in the evening.

Group therapy is a safe place if you are hesitant to discuss and share. You can listen and learn from others who have gone through similar experiences and take away the insights.

Groups are offered online and in person. Online group therapy offers access to mental health support to people in rural or remote areas or who are unable to attend in person.

Courses.

If you have a busy schedule, a budget, and limited time for appointments AND want to work on yourself, then courses are a fabulous option for you. They offer you flexibility and control. You get to choose topics that are important to you, learn research-based information, and gain essential tools right from the comfort of your own home, whenever you have time. All courses include membership to a private, online community where we can connect, I can guide and support you and where you can celebrate your wins or learn from the experiences of others! Courses provide a lot of bang for the buck and offer the most flexibility!

Rolynda, you brought me out of the darkest time in my life and reminded me that I am a good person, and the steps I had to take before my dad passed away were necessary. After a few sessions, I had the tools I needed to take care of myself on a go forward basis. I wouldn’t have known what to do without your help and I can’t thank you enough.”

I appreciate your approach to counseling Rolynda. You are a considerate listener and use questions to help me better understand my emotions and beliefs. Your suggestions for improvement come from scientific research and a deep understanding of the brain and mind and that is very powerful.

You have taught me tools to ensure that I can better control my thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in response to situations outside of my control. Thank you Rolynda.
