Here's what I believe.
I believe that the human experience is a difficult, beautiful journey filled with both challenges and growth opportunities. Life, in all its complexity, presents us with moments of joy, pain, love, and loss, each contributing to our emotional landscape. Unresolved experiences, unacknowledged feelings or deeply ingrained patterns of thinking can make us feel stuck in our journey. I know, because I have been through each of these. These experiences can land us in what can feel like a hopeless place. However, I believe that within each person lies the potential and power to move towards a more fulfilling and authentic life.
Why I Care.
I am inspired by the resilience that lies within each of us; this resilience can be forgotten when facing adversity, however, it can be rediscovered through the power of support and understanding that therapy provides.
My background in social work has provided me with a strong foundation in working with diverse populations, allowing me to connect with people on a meaningful level and develop skills in empathy, active listening, and problem-solving. These have shaped my therapeutic approach to be flexible, tailoring the therapy experience to each client’s own, unique needs. I aim to create a judgement-free space where clients can show up as their authentic self.
It takes an immense amount of courage to take the first step towards getting unstuck; so, if you are reading this, I am proud of you and so glad that you are here! Together, we can dissect the complex issues that have you feeling tangled and work together to get you closer to where you want to be.
My Education & Credentials.
I hold a Human Services Diploma (2012) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (2015). I am a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers and a member of the BC Association of Social Workers. With over 15 years of experience within the community and within government, I have worked with vulnerable families dealing with diverse hardships, women and children fleeing violence, and children and youth facing mental health challenges. I have a wealth of experience working with youth through the many challenges that teenagehood brings. I am familiar with parent/teen conflict, youth mentorship and with people of all ages who have experienced complex trauma.
It is with gratitude that I have worked with Indigenous, Métis and Inuit peoples; I take my role within Reconciliation seriously and acknowledge the horrific impacts of colonialism on our First Peoples. I am committed to ongoing learning and professional growth in this area and to being an ally to my clients who identify as Indigenous, Métis and Inuit.
